Turn on your TV and check out the economic situation of today and what do you see and hear? You hear about how the President Obama plan is going to work for or against the upper class citizens. And you find out what is going to happen to the middle class citizens. But you never hear or see anything about the lower class citizens. There really are American citizens that fall into a class beneath the upper class and also beneath the middle class. They are not called lower class people, they are not called any class at all.
When I refer to people as lower class I do not mean to say that they are worthless, no account, uneducated lowlife scum of the earth type people. What I am saying is that there are people who have some form of education and are upstanding citizens that are fighting hard to stay alive on a meager income. I'm talking about the people who are struggling to raise a family, cover all the everyday expenses and maybe even trying to sock away a dollar or two for the unknown problems that always show up. No one ever mentions these people when it comes to financial aid. Most of them are in the worse condition of anybody in the entire USA but they are left to fall between the cracks of the economic structure. Some are at an economical point where they earn too much money to qualify for aid such as food stamps and medical but yet they don't earn enough to cover the cost on their own. Many are uninsured because they do not quality for insurance aid and can't afford it on their own. They are caught in a catch 22 type thing. Damned of they do and damned if they don't. It is the lower class people who need the attention of Our President and the High class Senators and Congressmen. But for some reason they are skipped over like they don't even exist. Is our country ashamed to admit that we have people who suffer with low pay and are unable to dig out of the hole the economy has put them in. When the ruling forces speak of the middle class I'm sure they intend it to cover the lower class also but the benefits are designed for those with a higher income level. The real lower class are working for below poverty level wages and scraping for everything they can get. Does a stimulus package help them? Believe it or not, some of the upper class are now finding themselves joining the lower class. Due to corporate cutbacks and downsizing many of those high dollar people have been let go. They are now having a very hard time finding suitable employment. Many times they find that they are overqualified for a position and at other choices they find that they are not trained for the job. They are now living the life of the lower class. They are working in retail stores or flipping hamburgers and working at poverty level or below. Isn't it about time to focus on this country's hard working class? Isn't it about time to do something good for those who are way too often referred to as "the little people"? Lets see to it that some of the tax breaks and benefits are not just given to a few but to all US citizens. Why not bring home some of the US dollars spent on foreign soil and spend it on the millions of Americans who are still hungry and struggling to get by. Ok, I've said what I wanted to say so I will get off my soap box now and move over so someone else can speak up. {jomcomment} |
